Truck Update

Made several changes after feedback on my previous 3D model of the monster truck. I started it from scratch to try and make it “less blocky”. I also re-worked the texturing entirely. You might notice an obvious change which is the springs, too. Take a look:

Currently rendering out the wireframe so I can showcase it to my tutor. Once this is done, that’s one of my modules finished for uni and three more modules to go including my dissertation!

2 Months in Japan!

So I booked my flight yesterday, I’ll be spending 2 months in Japan with my amazing fiancée. I can’t wait! I’ll fly there on the 2nd May and come back on the 2nd July, in time for my graduation. My final deadline at University is 31st April and so it will be a busy month for me this month! I’ll keep it a short one since I have a lot of work to do!

Side Project

If you don’t already know, I’m working on a side project which I’m hoping can generate a bit of money. A friend of mine came to me with the idea and he needed help coding it, so we decided to go 50/50 with it. It has potential, but it’s just getting the name out there which is the challenge. At the moment I can’t really say what it is, but you can visit the new homepage for the project by going to happyfunbutton.com.

If you happen to be reading this post, please do all you can to spread the word, it would be highly appreciated. To help advertise it, we have purchased 500 business cards which we will be planting in as many places as we can. See below:

What you can see in the picture isn’t even half of the amount we’ve got. We’ll also be investing in some stickers to help promote the site. Stick around if you would like to know what the website is all about!

New Theme and New Model

You might have noticed that I changed layout again. I know I’ll be sticking with this one for a long time since it looks awesome, and I did pay for it! But aside from that, I have finished another piece of work for my Advanced 3D module at university. We set our own tasks and I chose to create low-poly models which would be useful for a gaming environment. I feel that this is good practice to create efficient models and is good practice if I want to get into the gaming industry. I had a lot of fun throughout the duration of creating this monster truck. Modeling, lighting and texturing. I also got to play with UDK which is always an added bonus.

To present this piece of work in a better fasion, I have created a showreel which is easy on the eye and pleasant to the ears! Please take a minute to check it out. Remember to tick 1080p!

Big Update

I realise it’s been a long time since I posted here, I’ve been so busy over the Christmas period and even now. I spent my Christmas and New Year in Japan with my gorgeous fiancée and met her wonderful family! I didn’t want to come back to the UK at all, but I’m happy to come back with some amazing memories. I proposed on Christmas Eve and she amazingly said yes!

Manami also flew back with me to the UK where we spent a while here too! It’s always too sad when we have to part ways at the airport, and hopefully that will never happen again in the near future!

I’ve been really busy with uni work recently and have been catching up on my 3D module, individual project (dissertation), Team Project and Advanced Visual Design. I fell behind quite a bit since Christmas so catching up is quite a challenge! I’ll post some W.I.P’s of my work below.

The Old Days

Was looking through some old boxes today and found a photo album from 2005. It was from when I went on a trip to Paris with my highschool’s French class. I will have been 13 going on 14 at the time (I had my birthday there). It was such a good time, and I’m sure my old pals will still agree with me on that one. I remember the place we stayed – with PGL (website here) – they had that one awesome room which could sleep about 8 people. I had some of the best laughs of my life in that room and some amazing memories.

We said we’d always go back when we got older, same people and same place, but everyone’s become so distant now, which is inevitable. Nothing can beat memories anyway.

I Can Smell Christmas

Got caught by surprise earlier after walking into the living room and finding the tree up! My mother has always stuck by the rule of putting up the Christmas tree 12 days before Christmas, I didn’t realise how soon it actually is until the fat man comes!

I just wanted to share a little something with you all, because it makes me laugh every single year. We always have a “special” angel at the top of our tree for Christmas, the angel has been with us for a very long time. My older sister made it when she was just a nipper, she was in nursery when she made it which means I will have been a new-born or maybe not even here yet! That means it’s at least 20 years old. I’ll let you be the judge of it…

There it is. What do you think? Since I can ever remember, this has been the only thing to go on the top of our tree every single year.
